Introduction to Natural Science

This course is centered on the principles of STEM education, integrating the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. It guides students to start from real-life situations, identify problems, and engage in inquiry-based learning, thereby enhancing their interest and motivation in learning natural sciences. The course design emphasizes hands-on learning and interdisciplinary connections. Through problem-based learning (PBL) and inquiry-based instruction, students are encouraged to observe actively, propose hypotheses, design experiments, and analyze data, leading to a deeper understanding of the nature of science and scientific research methods.

During the learning process, students not only develop the ability to conduct systematic scientific investigations but also build skills in information searching, data analysis, and the preparation of reports. In addition, through collaborative learning and group discussions, students share ideas and solve problems together, fostering strong scientific literacy and critical thinking skills.

A highlight of the course is the use of relatable, everyday topics—such as the operation of a compass or the exploration of air properties—to help students connect learning with their daily experiences. By designing experiments and interpreting data, they gain a better grasp of scientific concepts. This student-centered teaching approach supports the development of proactive learning attitudes and problem-solving abilities.

Ultimately, the course aims to help students establish a positive attitude toward science, understand that science is not merely the accumulation of knowledge but a process of exploration and innovation, and cultivate essential competencies for facing the challenges of a technology-driven society.
