Introduction

This project is innovational instruction in 3D design  implementation. To solve students’ learning difficulties in 3D tools, lack of creative application, practice, and problem-solving ability, we propose a new teaching method to resolve these common problems 3D design education in university. By applying problem-based learning in two fundamental courses, ‘digital modeling and texturing’ and ‘3D character modeling’, we bring skill practice, design implementation, theme creation, and design presentation into different stages of learning. Students who participate in these PBL courses can learn practical design skills, express creativity, and cultivate problem solving ability. Also, students can develop active learning attitude and critical thinking ability. This research project will organize the teaching and learning process and outcomes to analyze and share with the related community. Hope the research results can be a model of innovational instruction in 3D design course and could establish a practical teaching strategy for college education.
