Introduction
MISSION
The new generation of global and cross-disciplinary employment and the development of international competitiveness and mobility are driving the cultivation of STEM talents in all countries. Based on a merger of three educational systems of knowledge: a comprehensive higher education, vocational curriculum, and teacher-education program, National Pingtung University has a dedicated and experienced interdisciplinary faculty, ranging from education, science, information technology, and mathematics. With a mission to fulfill social responsibilities, cultivate STEM talents, and integrate internal resources on campus, the "STEM Education Center" began operating in August 2022 with the aim of participating in STEM-related research projects and establishing the foundation for the development of STEM education in southern Taiwan.
STRATEGIC PLANNING
The center establishes an interdisciplinary faculty group and professional community to implement three major strategic and operational planning:
●Cultivation of STEM-education talents:
Assistance primary/secondary schools, college, and local industries in STEM talent cultivation, educator training, curriculum development, and bilingual STEM curriculum implementation.
●Development of STEM-education products
Development STEM-related teaching materials, lesson plans, and teaching aids in response to society, industry, and educational needs, in addition to scientific and technological development.
●STEM research and university-industry cooperation
Providing technical services such as expert consultations and diagnostic visits, assistance companies to develop products and technologies, and conducting academic research, industry-university collaboration, and innovation within and outside of the university incubation.
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
As part of the STEM Education Center, there is a Director, an Executive Officer, and four division leaders (Education Promotion, Talent Cultivation, Research Development & Academia-Industry Collaboration) that serve the overall responsibility of the center.
